Anorexia Nervosa is a serious disorder that can often lead to heart damage and even death. Without treatment, up to 15% of anorexics with die. Anorexia does have the highest rate of death among all psychiatric disorders. Currently 15% of all people diagnosed with this disorder dies due to complications from it. Anorexia, because of these truths, becomes a VERY difficult disease to handle (for us and them).

Anorexia and bulimia often occur in conjunction with depression, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder. If you, your spouse or other close relatives have suffered from any of these problems, your child is at greater risk.
